Illinois Wedding Vendors | Why it’s SO Important to Have a Community as a Photographer

Bride and Groom Pose on their wedding day at the Joinery Chicago

Last month I had the opportunity to work with the BEST group of Illinois wedding vendors on a styled shoot. When the VR Inspirations Wedding planning team reached out to me about a styled shoot that they were putting together I knew I had to be a part of it !

Styled shoots are an awesome way for various wedding vendors to work together and show potential clients what is possible for their wedding day if they hire them.

My husband Jared and I had the opportunity to work together on this styled shoot which was SO much fun. As we are getting used to working with one another, it was so cool to see his creativity coming out throughout the shoot. We were able to collaborate, bounce ideas off of one another and ended up with some really cool photos with the help of all these phenomenal Illinois wedding vendors.

How to incorporate neon signs in your wedding day

The Styled Shoot at The Joinery Chicago

We started off the session with our models, Veronica and Kyle getting ready with Bel from Makeup by Bel. After they were dressed and ready, VR Inspirations had a phenomenal setup for us to use throughout our session.

We worked together to create a variety of photos that highlighted each of the Illinois wedding vendors' work. The Joinery Chicago has SO much to work with at their location alone so it was super easy to get the inspiration flowing and create some really cool work.

Jared and I worked with Veronica and Kyle individually, and together. Working with another photographer similar to how you would with a second shooter on your wedding day brings out SO much creativity and new ideas.

Why You Need a Strong Community in the Wedding Industry

It is SO important as wedding vendors to have a community to work with and rely on throughout the industry. Working and running your own business can be kind of isolating, while on a wedding day you have to work as a team with other vendors that are often complete strangers.

Building a strong community within the wedding industry can not only strengthen your work, but also your client experience. You can suggest vendor friends to your new clients, knowing fellow vendors at a wedding often makes the day more streamlined, and helps to create a better experience for everyone involved !
