There are so many great backgrounds in Wisconsin to have your engagement photos, and we're going to talk about the best outdoorsy locations. I would argue that there are two main differences, either beachy vibes or forest vibes. You can get both of these right in South Eastern Wisconsin (or in almost all of Eastern Wisconsin for that matter) haha
BEACH, LET'S CHAT.
Let's talk beachy vibes! (Almost) all of Eastern WI runs along lake Michigan which makes for a perfect backdrop for photos! My favorite beach locations in the area are: Simmons Island Beach, Pennoyver Park Beach, and Eichelman Park Beach. If you are looking for (in my opinion the best free beach in Northern Illinois, I recommend Fort Sheridan Beach. For Beach Photos I recommend taking on the colors of your surroundings. Beiges, neutrals, browns, blues, blacks, whites are usually my go to suggestions for anyone having photos taken at the beach.
FOREST YOUR HEART OUT
Now I totally understand if you'd rather live out your forestry dreams and take some magical photos there! For forest vibes, I typically recommend almost the same attire with an emphasis on wearing more neutral and patternless clothes. Trees, grass, and the other vibes that go along with this setting often have a lot of detail, so wearing patterns can clash with the details and look different in photos opposed to more neutral-patternless clothes. My all time favorite forest preserve to take photos in in SE WI is Petrifying Springs Park. They have water features, gorgeous trees and paths and lots of different backgrounds to choose from.
